“Still nursing your 4 year old to sleep? Perfect. It’s Nourishing, it’s Nurturing and it’s Natural.”
★ *˛ ˚♥* ✰。˚ ˚ღ。* ˛˚ 。✰˚* ˚ ★ღ

Breasts are soft, warm and provides food therefore are the perfect place to help our babies drift off to sleep.

Some things to remember are:

💫 Nursing your baby or child to sleep does not create a habit but rather become a part of a loving routine.
💫 Offering to nurse your child when they wake throughout the night continues to give them calories and is a nutritional benefit which is important especially as children are busy playing and can be difficult to get to eat.
💫 Independence and falling asleep on their own is a developmentally milestone that is as individuals our babies.
💫 There are emotional benefits to continued breastfeeding past the 2nd, 4th and later years including lowering rates of postpartum depression, create space for checking in when we spend more time away from your nursling & continues to be a loving way to parent through difficult times.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Habit vs. Routine.

Both are a regular action that happen in a repeated way throughout our day & both can have good and bad aspects however the difference is your baby will automatically grow out of nursing to sleep or through the night on their own while a “bad habit” tends to be something we need to work on to break or stop doing.

You are an incredible parent, friend and person. No one is like you and you are perfect for your baby.

Your baby loves to breastfeed, making it enjoyable for you is just as important.
★ *˛ ˚♥* ✰。˚ ˚ღ。* ˛˚ 。✰˚* ˚ ★ *˛ ˚♥* ✰。˚

We are the centre of our babies world and spending time playing, learning by our side is what makes our babies happy and breastfeeding is an important extension of that. So how does breastfeeding make you feel?

Here’s what we know:
* When baby feeds from our body, we make a hormone called OXYTOCIN (the LOVE & BONDING hormone)
* If nursing our babies is stressful then we can actually train our bodies to have a negative response to feeding or even just the thought of having them at our breast.
* Breastfeeding is a relationship that happens between two individuals, a conversation, and how we feel can impact how that conversation is interpreted
* When nursing is simply about feeding our baby or nutrition and calories it can limit our own experiences
* Making sure that we cultivate a happy breastfeeding relationship can help us look forward to and enjoy nursing our children and even extend our breastfeeding journey.

✨✨✨ What do you do for yourself while you feed your baby? ✨✨✨

Not everyone loves breastfeeding and for those who do we don’t love it all the time. So planning to care for ourselves and make it fun for baby and YOU can have wonderful benefits!

🥰 Do you have a breastfeeding space where you have a water bottle, book, phone charger, snacks, chocolates, a journal, puzzles, the tv remote?
Some of the ways we can play with baby while we feed are singing, playing with toes and fingers, wearing a special breastfeeding necklace or a special toy that baby loves.

One of the biggest things we can do as parents is to slow down and kindly remind ourselves that parenting is a FULL TIME JOB and something we do well when we also feel cared for. Having others supporting us and making us tea, food, cleaning the house and doing errands allows us the time we need to parent in a way that highlights our needs as well.

Breastfeeding after birth should focus on connection and not goals.
★ *˛ ˚♥* ✰。˚ ˚ღ。* ˛˚ 。✰˚* ˚ ★ *˛ ˚♥* ✰。˚

The pressures in breastfeeding starts as soon as our babies leave our bodies. Instead of creating space for oxytocin and bonding we often have to wait for checks and procedures before baby gets to our breast and then are labeled either proficient or failed by our first experiences of learning.

Here’s what we know:
* depending on your birth most babies will be born tranquil, quiet and happy to be at the breast.
* Being clear about your desires after birth, catching your own baby, refusing non essential early cord clamping, asking people to leave the room, waiting until we have a shower to have checks done
* No talking except for the parents.
* Maintaining the birthing space until the parents decide otherwise. Dark, warm and quiet.
* Not imposing goals or others ideas of what nursing is supposed to look like but rather focus on bonding, connection & comfort.

✨✨✨ The first hour after birth should take as long as needed ✨✨✨

Remember that babies are born full and the point of introducing baby to the breast directly after birth is not to satiate hunger but rather to have baby suckle at the breast which awakens and activates cells that make and secret milk. The more often baby is at the breast the higher our upper limit of milk making will be & give baby access to that AMAZING GOLDEN miracle #colostum which provides high amounts of proteins, immunoglobulins & leukocytes and is baby’s first medicine.
